2020 Track Season
During my current break from training and racing, I’ve had time to reflect on my 2020 track season. At times I feel guilty for talking about running when our world is facing a pandemic and systemic racism, but sports have always been my escape from the “real world.” For the first time in YEARS, I experienced a track season where I remained healthy (shout-out to Physio David Campbell). That in and of itself is enough to be thankful for! But I not only remained healthy, I also got back to feeling like myself. Under the guidance of Coach Rowland and Coach Rad, I was able to put together some solid races, running 2 minutes for the first time since 2017. Competitions looked as though they’d be nonexistent this year, but thanks to Portland Track and everyone else involved, we had a handful of racing opportunities in a safe, fun environment. I’m so appreciative for being able to test my fitness with some races! Joining Oregon Track Club Elite this year was definitely a leap of faith. I wasn't sure how my body would respond to new training, but I bought into the process and I’m extremely excited with what we were able to put together, especially during a season filled with so many unknowns. Thank you all, especially St. Luke's Health Network, for your continued support! Here’s to next year!!!

Perseverance: persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success
If there’s anything this journey has taught me, it’s how to persevere. And you know what else I’ve learned? Very rarely can you persevere alone.
A huge thank you to Jacen Moore of Roots Sports Medicine for working with me over this past month. His attention to detail, innovation, and work ethic are phenomenal. Super pleased with how things are looking on the track 💪🏾. Anyone in the Phoenix area should definitely check him out!
